Bangladesh: within a single year
After August 2017, Rohingya fleeing Myanmar crossed into south-eastern Bangladesh. In the annual statistics, the crisis appears as a rare vertical jump.

One row apart
At the end of 2016, Bangladesh hosted 276.203 refugees; at the end of 2017, 932.209. Annual stocks usually move slowly — a jump like this within one year is one of a handful in the whole dataset. The latest figure (2025) is 1.178.038.
The origin side
The same people, in the other view: in 2025 there were 1.524.378 refugees from Myanmar, and 3.628.840 internally displaced people inside Myanmar (2025). Switching between the "where they are" and "where they fled from" views shows the two faces of one displacement.
